About the Project

The Montessori Makers Alignment Map (MMAP) is a large-scale SaaS platform used by Montessori schools to manage:

  • daily operations

  • admissions

  • academics

  • finance

  • HR & adult culture

  • equity dashboards

  • communication flows

  • and school-wide decision-making

It’s built with:

  • TypeScript + React

  • Supabase (PostgreSQL, Auth, RLS Policies, Storage, Edge Functions)

  • Lovable

  • AI-assisted code scaffolding

  • GitHub

  • Railway / Render

  • Resend

MMAP is already in beta with real schools.
Your work will help ensure that everything is stable, intuitive, bug-free, and teacher-friendly before we expand to a larger audience.

This is a non-coding role, but absolutely essential to the quality of the platform.

What You’ll Do

You’ll be responsible for making sure MMAP feels smooth, clear, stable, and consistent to real educators.

Your work includes:

  • Conducting structured testing of new and existing features

  • Trying to break things (intentionally!) and documenting what happens

  • Spotting confusing UX flows and proposing improvements

  • Reviewing navigation for clarity and consistency

  • Logging bugs using a structured process

  • Reproducing bugs and identifying patterns

  • Supporting beta schools by:

    • asking clarifying questions

    • offering calm, accurate guidance

    • escalating issues appropriately

  • Gathering weekly summaries of:

    • common issues

    • UX friction points

    • potential reliability concerns

  • Helping ensure the platform is teacher-ready and school-safe

You’ll work closely with Hannah (founder), who will guide testing priorities, workflow, and communication expectations.

What You’ll Learn

  • How real SaaS products are tested and stabilized

  • How to identify UX friction and workflow breakdowns

  • How to triage, reproduce, and document bugs

  • How school operations translate into software

  • How beta launches work in real startups

  • How to communicate with clarity and confidence in a support setting

  • How complex systems behave under real-world usage

You’ll become someone who understands how products actually work — not just how they’re built.

Who You Are

  • Detail-oriented, observant, naturally curious

  • Calm communicator who doesn’t panic when something breaks

  • Comfortable navigating websites and software

  • Organized and consistent

  • Great at following structured workflows

  • Strong with documentation, clarity, and pattern recognition

  • Interested in UX, QA, testing, or EdTech

  • Able to ask thoughtful questions when something doesn’t make sense

  • No coding required — but tech comfort is helpful

  • Montessori knowledge is a bonus, not required

What Success Looks Like

  • You catch things before teachers do

  • You communicate issues calmly, clearly, and respectfully

  • You create clean bug reports developers can act on

  • You help reduce friction, confusion, and support tickets

  • You identify patterns in user behavior or system failures

  • You make the app safer and smoother for real schools

After the Externship

You’ll walk away with:

  • strong portfolio credit (yes, QA/UX work can be showcased!)

  • a LinkedIn recommendation

  • letter of reference

  • experience supporting a real EdTech product in beta

  • demonstrable testing + QA skills

  • option for a paid part-time support/QA role depending on performance
